At Community Update, we are pleased to announce that we have selected Riverdale Hall Hotel as the recipient of our Commitment to Excellence Award.
Whilst Riverdale Hall Hotel caters to the modern-day guest with 28 individually decorated bedrooms and an indoor heated pool and sauna, it truly conceals all of its original charm and character from when it was first built in 1886.
Today, Riverdale offers a confident and stylish blend of old and new and comfortably nestles into the beautiful countryside of Northumberland, at a riverside location boasting breathtaking views. Located nearby you will find Hadrian’s Wall, the stunning Northumbrian Coast with its numerous castles, Kielder water and Forest. Located in a part of the world that is rich in English Heritage there is also lots of fantastic walks along the Pennine Way, an 18-hole golf course in Bellingham, and an opportunity to go salmon fishing on England’s premier salmon and trout river.
When we spoke to Simon Irving, General Manager, he told us that people ‘arrive as guests’ but ‘leave as friends.’ Owned by the Cocker family and run by three directors; Simon, Stuart Naylor, and Tony Johnston – Head Chefs, the Hotel is well known for its friendly atmosphere and the standard of its food which is consistently excellent at the Riverdale Restaurant.
“We serve a wide range of international and local dishes on our award-winning restaurant menu. We source a lot of local produce like local game, beef, lamb etc, as well as locally produced cheeses and ice creams. All our dishes are cooked from scratch in our kitchen with love and attention to detail, and our steaks are renowned locally,” added Simon.
Being on the receiving end of numerous awards including the Les Routier Gold Plate – to which Riverdale is the only hotel in Northumbria to receive, Head Chefs Stuart and Tony have been at Riverdale for 30 years and are extremely experienced in creating mouth-watering dishes with an enviable reputation.
For those who want the facilities of the Hotel but prefer their own space, Riverdale has self-catering options in four luxury built stone apartments just 30 yards south of the main hall. These apartments offer a deluxe home from home experience that includes your own patio area and stunning views that overlook the North Tyne River and bridge, and Dunterley Fell on the Pennine Way.
If you’re in need of a little staycation then Riverdale Hall Hotel is your ideal holiday escape.
