In this issue of Holiday’s Today, we are delighted to welcome Cloag Farm Cottages as the recipient of our Commitment to Excellence Award.
Nestled just outside the charming village of Methven and only seven miles west of Perth, Cloag Farm Cottages offer a warm and authentic farm-stay experience. These three self-catering cottages are perfect for couples, families, and small groups of friends looking for a peaceful retreat in the heart of Scotland. Managed by David and Moyra Smythe, guests are treated to genuine hospitality and the chance to enjoy the farm’s abundant wildlife, and, if you’re lucky, you might even spot one of the rare, native red squirrels!
With stunning panoramic views to the south, the cottages provide a countryside escape while keeping you close to historic towns and cities. “For 37 years, we’ve been welcoming visitors to our farm,” said David. “Our cottages are ideal for exploring the East of Scotland. As a proud Scottish Agritourism business, we offer guests a taste of farm life and are thrilled to have achieved Green Tourism Silver status.”
Cloag Farm is perfectly situated for exploring some of Scotland’s most iconic destinations. Stirling, Dundee, and St Andrews are all less than an hour away, while Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Aberdeen are easily accessible for day trips. Whether you’re after a relaxing getaway or an adventure-packed holiday, Cloag Farm Cottages is your ideal base.
After the hustle and bustle of Christmas and New Year, a weekend or a few nights break away might be just what you need.
“We offer lower prices in January and February, for example a three-night break for up to 4 people is only £330.00, or one week for 2 people is just £495.00. Also, Winter is a great time for seeing wildlife! We have a wood behind the cottages that homes tawny owls, and sometimes we see barn owls patrolling the hedges too. Our location means that it is peaceful for guests to relax but not so much out the way to call it remote. It’s a fantastic base for exploring Perthshire countryside, the historic Perth City and the county towns,” added David.
Being family-run means that Cloag Farm Cottages offer the ultimate personable touch coupled with a true ‘home-from-home’ feel.
“We are always on hand to give a warm welcome or to help out with anything our guests need during their stay. Winter and Spring are magical seasons, with the weather only making the countryside more beautiful and dramatic to experience. We are surrounded by many restaurants, each offering inspired dishes from locally sourced ingredients as well as traditional pub grub.”
