Five myth-busters about life coaching
In this issue, we are celebrating the limitless power of Life Coaching and have awarded Jenni Marshall with our Commitment to Excellence.
When we think of life coaches, we envisage wise gurus meditating on the meaning of life. Whilst there’s nothing wrong with that, most life coaches in fact come from all walks of life. Jenni Marshall comes from a high-powered finance background and she brings those transferable interpersonal skills to her unique life coaching practice.
1. Myth One: Life Coaching is like therapy
Life coaching is definitely NOT therapy- it’s about looking forward, not back. Therapy has its rightful place supporting people but life coaching is more of a two-way street, working towards short of long-term goals.
2. Myth Two: Life Coaching is only for successful people
Life coaching it for everyone, it’s inclusive and whilst there are pricier options, there are affordable options too. Consider life coaching more as an investment in you- like a pacemaker in an all-weather race, spurring you on every day.
3. Myth Three: Life Coaching involves drastic change
Think of life coaching more as a guide looking at smart achievable targets such as managing time at work, work/life balance, becoming more assertive at work rather than changing careers overnight.
4. Myth Four: Life Coaching is career-centric
We are all complex holistic souls; we might thrive at work but struggle in our personal lives or vice versa. Life Coaching is not a ‘one size fits all’ approach, it’s totally client-led on the areas they would like to focus on.
5. Myth Five: Life Coaching is just a fad
Life Coaching has been around for nearly fifty years and offers a practical approach to personal growth. It’s like having your own personal trainer helping you guide the many trials and tribulations of life.
Jenni Marshall is a Life Coach and Money Mentor, with a passion for helping people move forward in a safe, non-judgemental space, Jenni empowers her clients to make small, powerful steps towards change.
Her Life Coaching isn’t all about the ‘road less travelled’ or ruminating on the past, it’s embarking on a growth mindset towards more happiness and fulfilment. Jenni asks the question – ‘What do you walk or run towards?’- which always offers surprising, yet illuminating answers.
