Thorp Perrow is set in beautiful woodlands and is the home of the UK’s finest Bird of Prey & Wildlife centre. Including five National Plant Collection, and the UK’s finest collection of trees, Thorp Perrow also boasts as being the leading centre for raptor conservation.
Each year Thorp Perrow puts on an array of events for each season that are always hugely popular and cater to adults, children, and families. With Christmas round the corner, Thorp Perrow is set for the festive season and welcomes you to join them in celebrating through a variety of fun, exciting and interesting events throughout November and December 2023.
Wednesday 15th November – Stags head willow weaving
Thorp Perrow welcomes Anna Cross, an expert willow weaver who will be in hand to guide you through the process of creating your very own stunning willow stag’s head ready to hang for the festive period.
Tuesday 5th December – Christmas Wreath making
Ever wondered how the wreaths you see hanging on your neighbour’s door are made? Well you can find out and even make one for yourself here. Led by Thorp Perrow’s Curator, Faith Douglas, you can learn how to expertly craft a beautiful festive wreath using high quality foliage specially selected to provide a fantastic mix of varieties, colour, longevity and verdure. As well as greenery, there will be an assortment of delightful and interesting decorative items with which to adorn your wreath.
All materials and equipment are provided although you might like to bring your favourite pair of gardening gloves.
The workshop will be held in Thorp Perrow’s beautiful Summerhouse with refreshments and a deliciously light lunch included, along with mulled wine and mince pie treats!
Wednesday 13th December – Festive Star willow weaving
Willow weaving is extremely popular and one of the world’s most ancient crafts, therefore, Thorp Perrow will be putting on another weaving workshop with Anna Cross who will help you to create your very own festive star alongside a light lunch served in the Summerhouse.
At various dates between 25th November – 24th December – Santa’s grotto
Santa’s coming to town!! If you take a wintry walk through the Arboretum towards the cosy cabin nestled deep in the woods, the elves will be waiting to welcome you into an enchanting winter wonderland. Inside, explore a host of seasonal landscapes and creatures, discover miniature worlds, and peep inside the elves’ charming little bedroom before finding Santa in his cosy sitting room, ready for a chat and an extra special photo. If you’ve been good, there’s a little gift waiting for you!
