Royal Ascot Golf Club: Bringing the “A” Game to the Community

We are delighted to select Royal Ascot Golf Club for our Commitment to Excellence Award.

Established in 1887, with Royal Patronage from Queen Victoria, the Royal Ascot Golf Club shows that whilst it has a prestigious history, it also has a drive to be a part of the community whilst protecting the environment.

“Aesthetics is key” stated James Hastings, Sales and Marketing Executive for the club. “We have nature zones that enhance the areas around the course, which are rife with local wildlife and rare species. We are committed to planting new trees and converting as much as possible to solar energy, so that the club is a part of the environment rather than an impact on it.”

It is not just the environment that gains, but the club has made exciting developments for inclusion and diversity. “We currently have 35 students in our Academy, 90% of whom are female”

The Academy teaches the novice golfer techniques, rules and etiquette so that when they do play a round, they know the pace of play and feel comfortable with themselves and other members,” stated James.

This sense of community can be epitomised in the events that the club runs. In August 2024, the club hosted a free to attend Summer Fete, which was open to the public. It proved such a success, that another Fete is to take place in July 2025 with the potential footfall expected to double with 120-130 stalls for the public to browse.

The Club has been actively enhancing the course with a comprehensive bunker restoration program. All bunkers are being modified and upgraded to introduce a strategic shift in how the holes are played. James added, “we only have one more bunker phase left to complete and then we can present a course with fantastic new hazards to challenge every golfer. One of the key advantages of our course is its flat terrain, allowing golfers of all ages to continue enjoying the game well into their later years.”

With a new outdoor terraced area overlooking the 18th green, state-of-the-art conferencing facilities and a 120-person meeting room for hire, there is more than just golf at this golf club.

Traditionally, golf clubs have been perceived as exclusive, but The Royal Ascot Golf Club is challenging that notion. It believes that true strength lies in fostering a sense of community and family, making the club a fully inclusive experience for everyone.
