W.T. Roberts Central Bakery is a well-loved local bakery tucked off the main high street in Beaumaris, Anglesey.
It is famous among locals and day-trippers for a fine selection of artisan breads, homemade pies and pasties, freshly made sandwiches, cooked meats, deli goods and large range of cakes.
The bakery is stocked daily and uses traditional recipes, dating back to the 1800’s, including the traditional Welsh ‘Bara brith’ speckled bread based on yeasted bread.
The proud family-run bakery has hundreds of five-star Tripadvisor and Google Map reviews, which may explain the frequent queue outside the door! Customers love the amazing selection, high-quality products, friendly customer service and the bakery craftmanship still going strong.
The historical bakery has ‘established in 1892’ inscribed on the front exterior, when it started trading as a local general store. The Roberts family twin boys initially both had a bakery: named Central Bakery and Castle Bakery respectively and to date it is only Central Bakery that is still running.
William Roberts (W.T. Roberts) is the current and fifth generation family baker, who continues the family’s legacy alongside his wife Clare Roberts. William has created many new signature varieties of bread over the years including: Date & Walnut, Cheese & Wholegrain Mustard and various flavours of Focaccia, which are all affectionately known as ‘Saturday specials’ to locals.
“We strive to support our community as much as possible and this often involves us donating breads and other items to school fundraisers, charity events and sponsoring football kits.
The business also has a wholesale custom, to which goods are delivered to many cafes and restaurants in surrounding villages on Anglesey.
The bakery has grown and developed in many ways over the years and due to the size of the premises cannot grow much more. We do however allow ourselves to develop creatively through new lines of cakes and breads throughout the year.
We have a great team of staff that work hard all year round and help in allowing the business to be a success.” explained Clare Roberts.
