In this issue of Community Update, we are pleased to award Wills Estate for its Commitment to Excellence.
Edgcote Estate is a family-owned estate which sits on the historic Edgcote Battlefield. As well as the 18th century stately home, a church (which dates back to 13th century), and working arable farm, the Estate is home to a variety of racing stables and offers an array of beautiful walks and bridleways running through its 1800 acres.
It is also home to Edgcote Gallops, which is open all year round to the public to use from 11:30am daily and consists of a 5-furlong hill and 5.5 furlong round gallop with Andrews Bowen Safetrack surface. By kind permission of Wills Estates, the South Midlands area welcomes racing at Edgcote, with the next race day that is planned on Sunday 18th May 2025.
Edgcote Estate is also proud to offer our beautiful, versatile, meeting room set in the idyllic countryside, The Coach House @ Edgcote (www.edgcote.com). The beautiful old stone building has been upgraded with all modern amenities, fibre Wi-Fi, large TV screen, project screen with versatile seating and tables for up to 30 people or many more standing, the meeting room is the ideal choice for your next meeting, conference, training session or presentation. The fully equipped kitchen is available for you to use for refreshments or lunches.
Edgcote has also recently upgraded its Gallops facilities with a state-of-the-art entry system, making payments at entry smoother and more efficient. Additionally, Wi-Fi has been installed, along with comprehensive CCTV coverage across all Gallops, enhancing security and oversight. To further prioritise safety, a defibrillator is now available on-site. A new parking area has also been constructed, and work is currently underway to develop a dedicated lorry parking surface, ensuring better accommodation for all visitors.
On the 18th of May visitors can expect Point-to-Point racing – a form of amateur horse racing over fences held at a variety of Point-to-Point racecourses throughout the UK, and a fun day out for all the family where people come together to enjoy the sport and to socialise. Gates open at 11am with the first race at 2pm. Dogs must be on leads, and under 15’s can enter for free. General admission is £15.00.
We spoke to Hamish Gairdner, Wills Estate Manager who explained more on the Gallops:
“We work tirelessly to keep the Gallops in top condition, no matter the weather. Using what we believe to be the best surface – Andrews Bowen Safetrack – we meticulously maintain it at least twice daily. This ensures an exceptional experience for every rider while prioritising the safety and well-being of the horses.”
