In this issue of Community Update, we are proud to announce that we have selected Bourne’s Fine Furniture as the recipient of our Commitment to Excellence Award.
Fine furniture maker and founder of Bourne’s Fine Furniture, Ian Bourne began the company in 2001 after working with other cabinet makers in London and the southeast of England for over 17 years. Over four decades as a fine furniture maker, Ian has gained a widespread reputation for producing high quality furniture with an efficient and reliable service at realistic prices.
All furniture is handmade in the furniture workshop in the heart of Henfield, West Sussex, and the client base covers projects in East Sussex, Kent, Surrey, West Sussex and Hampshire, with several clients also across London. Ian has also gone much further, and as he told us, “If a customer has a serious design, I will make it and travel to fit it.”
Bourne’s Fine Furniture makes handmade furniture designed and built to your needs, in contemporary or traditional styles. Ian visits customer’s houses to discuss their exact requirements, and after measuring up, he builds the furniture in his own workshop, then returns to fit it exactly as the customer requires.
Ian makes furniture for all aspects of a house – bedrooms, kitchens, dining furniture and home offices especially. Ian told us, “I work with an interior designer, and when the furniture is designed, we send the client a 3D image of the work to ensure that they are completely happy with it.” Only then does Ian begin the joinery and then he and a colleague take it and install it.
Ian is especially proud of the kitchens that he builds, “There are examples on my website of the kitchens, which are my favourite products to build, supply and install. I really enjoy a challenge, and when customers have ideas, I love to make their ideas become reality.”
Commissioning bespoke handmade furniture enables customers to put their own personal touch to a piece of furniture and become involved in its manufacture from the initial design concept to the final finishing. Ian works with only the best quality woods – oak walnut ash beech and other more exotic timbers and provide a full designer paint service in various finishes.
