We have been catching up with Dave Wrighting, founder of To Die For Events to find out a bit about the services they offer.
“Hi Dave, tell us a bit about your company.”
“Hello, I started To Die For Events in 2005 to turn a hobby into a business that could make people smile. I had been writing and performing murder mystery events for several years beforehand to raise money for various charities. I still do charity fundraising as well as events for clients, and people kept asking me to do more so here we are, almost 20 years later.
My other main interest is designing and firing fireworks displays to music. The BPA (British Pyrotechnists Association) trained me. People were asking me to provide displays for weddings etc so in 2018 I took the decision to jump through the many hoops necessary to allow me to fire professional fireworks displays.
The two branches of the business are quite different, but are both are things I am passionate about, and I am lucky to have equally passionate teams of actors and firing crew working with me.
As a small independent company, I can spend time working with clients to ensure they get exactly the event they have in mind. All our events are bespoke and designed within the client’s budget and we can also help take the stress out of planning an event by helping find suitable venues, caterers etc.
Our murder mysteries are different to those offered by most companies in that they include a crime scene that guests can search for clues, as well as suspects to interview to solve the murder. We can cater for between 8 and 80 guests at any venue (we have murdered in theatres, stately homes, on a riverboat cruise and even in a military base). Our murder mystery events last about 2 hours, usually after a meal.
Most of our firework displays end peoples wedding days and parties etc, however we do have a murder mystery that ends with a firework display so makes a unique way to celebrate an event.
We are based near Norwich so normally cover East Anglia but can travel elsewhere if needed. We can murder abroad, though must work with partner companies to offer fireworks displays outside of the UK.”
