In this issue of Community Update, we are proud to announce that we have selected Devron Valley Cottages as the recipient of our Commitment to Excellence Award.
In the tranquil countryside of Scotland you’ll find Devron Valley Cottages, a true hidden gem in the heart of Aberdeenshire near Huntly. Situated by the River Deveron, across 13 acres of land are five properties, each boasting traditional, contemporary and modern designs.
“Deveron Lodge is a Scandinavian style log cabin set in our own private woodland, it sleeps five and has a woodburner, a lovely outdoor area, a BBQ and is the most secluded of our places. Bonnie View Lodge has an enclosed balcony and is ideal for pets as its all on one level. This lodge sleeps four, has a wood stove and a ‘Bonnie View’ over the river Deveron and Kinnairdy Castle. Sunflower Cottage has recently been refurbished and is the smallest of our accommodations. It’s a lovely one bedroomed cottage with a small walled garden, twin beds, kitchen/dining and living space and a cosy log burner. Auchingoul cottage has two bedrooms, sleeps four, has a spacious double room upstairs and twin downstairs with bathroom. Its enclosed private courtyard and patio BBQ area outside makes it ideal for families. Swallow Cottage is our largest place and sleeps seven with a private courtyard, conservatory, and private balcony with a BBQ and garden furniture overlooking the Castle and river Deveron,” stated Alyson Cairns, Owner.
Perfect for your four-legged friends, Deveron Valley Cottages is more than dog friendly, being situated on the Whiskey and Castle Trails and noted as a good starting point for the North East 250 coastal route, it’s a perfect place to discover a forgotten part of Scotland. Further local attractions include the beautiful Aberdeenshire beaches and seaside towns of Banff Gardenstown, Crovie, Cullen and Portsoy.
There are also plenty of activities from golf courses and ski centres to whiskey distilleries to keep you busy.

At the heart of Deveron Valley Cottages is Alyson and her partner Jason who have really transformed the business. Alyson mentioned their plans for the future, “we plan to convert our main barn into two more three-bedroom cottages sleeping eight, including hot tubs and wheelchair access. Hopefully we will see this before the end of 2022.”
