Based between Beverley and Bridlington, The Granary is an upcoming café, restaurant, bakery and gift shop based at Manor House Farm. Owners Karen and Chris bought a run-down small holding with the view to develop it into a family friendly destination. So far, they have two holiday cottages and an abundance of friendly animals, which will soon be complemented by the opening of The Granary on the 12th April 2019.
Offering wholesome food, the café will also transform into a restaurant in the evenings, with a good selection of quality wines to help create a true fine dining experience. The Granary will also offer freshly baked bread from its in-house bakery, as well as cakes, tarts, and other scrumptious baked goods. It already has a reputation for the best scones around. Furthermore, the first floor will have a feel of an old library with a fire and bar, creating a perfect place to kick back and unwind with a drink and nibbles. The café during the day has bi-fold doors opening onto a beautiful garden creating the perfect al-fresco dining experience during the warmer months.
What’s more, Karen and Chris are hoping to run various activities open to all, including arts and crafts, woodwork, ceramics, and even a wine tasting group. The café will have a dog friendly area, and along with their seasonal events at Christmas and Halloween, they are also hoping to host a Dog Fun Day within the grounds.
We had the pleasure of speaking to Karen about some of the plans she has for the site. “Essentially, we are trying to create a destination where people can enjoy an entire day out, as opposed to a short visit. Our ethos is to imagine what reality lacks, and find a creative way to remedy it! We offer a small paddock walk which will have treasure hunts with riddles dotted around the site to try and challenge the adults, as well as offering fun activities for children. What’s more, we have a selection of animals to see, including pygmy goats, cats and Ouessant sheep, the smallest breed of sheep in the world!”
If this wasn’t enough, Karen also told us that she hopes to host events at the site. “We are looking into marketing it as a wedding venue, once our renovations are complete. This will include a marquee down by the beautiful pond, using the café to provide excellent catering services for the guests.”
Indeed, with such a wide range of activities and events, it is clear that The Granary and the surrounding grounds at Manor House Farm will provide an unmissable day out for all the family.
