Wedding celebrants have been on the rise in recent years, with many couples wishing to personalise ceremonies. There is growing momentum for celebrants to have adopted legal status for conducting ceremonies through a law commission paper.
Proud Fox Ceremonies offers bespoke Weddings, Vow Renewals, Naming ceremonies and funerals across the country. Owner, Martin Fox-Roberts trained as a celebrant during Lockdown,

Martin is the first certified drag queen celebrant in the country and offers three packages: standard, ceremony and ritual or the deluxe ceremony, ritual and massage. Rituals range from tree-planting to sand ceremonies, incorporating symbolic religious customs, all adding a deeply, poignant moment into the ceremony. Martin is a trained masseur and can offer a deep Swedish massage, at the couple’s behest.
“I am naturally skilled at rapport-building and get to know the lucky couple through meetings and questionnaires. Once I know the love narrative, I lovingly curate a personalised script that I deliver with expert orator panache. Aa part of my service, I set up a WhatsApp group with the couple, so they can fire questions, worries and ideas to me throughout the build-up to the day.”
Martin’s day job is British Sign Language Interpreter, which he enjoys and brings this to the fore in the ceremonies, “I can officiate using sign language, which offers the deaf community limitless opportunities to create the perfect ceremony. My celebrant-style is all about inclusion. Everybody deserves their dream wedding, irrespective of lifestyle choice or culture and I get to put my glad rags and have fun as Maria Hurtz.”
Proud Fox Ceremonies has been shortlisted twice for regional celebrant awards: Best Regional Celebrant (finalist) for The Wedding Industry Awards 2023 and Best Newcomer (finalist.) Customers have been blown away by his flamboyant, sensitive style, including this couple that stated ‘He really was the icing, and then the cherry, for what turned out to be the perfect day for us.’
