Eco-wedding favours

In this issue of Community Update, we are delighted to award S.R.E. Favours and Guestbooks with our Commitment to Excellence Award.

Wedding favours date back to the 16th century, when wedding guests would be offered love knots, lovingly made from lace and ribbon to symbolise the couple’s love bond. Modern-day wedding favours are now signs of gratitude from the couple and with DIY-weddings on the rise: many couples on tight budgets are looking for cost-effective, personalised favours.

S.R.E. Favours and Guestbooks is a new Essex-based company offering a truly unique range of personalised guest favours, guestbooks and quirky succulents. Owner Philippa Etheridge designs bespoke favours to match any themed wedding style, from classical to rustic. One of the most popular product ranges is the ‘Gift & Grow’ eco-range of seed papers, as Philippa explains,

“A couple approached me at a school fete last year and asked if I could make favours, based on my existing upcycled pot succulent range. I researched the wedding favour market and started designing unique seed paper products. My first product was a seed paper guest quiz favour, based on 10 questions offered by the couple. The end result was the perfect wedding table ice-breaker for guests. After that, I started printing wedding invitations, save-the-date cards, placenames, drink tokens and children’s colouring sheets.

Once the guests have finished with the items, they take them home, plant it in compost and then beautiful wildflowers grow. It’s the perfect garden reminder from a memorable wedding day for years to come!”

For couples looking for an alternative to traditional guestbooks, S.R.E. Favours and Guestbooks has some lovely ideas.

The mini-Jenga Guestbooks, offer a fun, quirky element to wedding days. Guests simply select a block to write their wishes onto for the special couple, then slot the block back inside. It is fun for the guests and acts as an unusual keepsake for years to come. Similarly, glass heart message-in-a-bottle guestbooks add a dash of glamour to your day. Philippa is always trying out new creative ideas and is currently working on a giant Jenga frame,

“The 5ft tall frame will be held in an abacus-style frame, instead of having more traditional loose wooden blocks, the blocks will spin round for guests to write on each side. The product should launch in late Autumn in time for Winter or Spring weddings.”

“I offer a bespoke service for all products, making your day truly unique, so feel free to contact me to discuss how I can make your day truly unique to you.”
