In this issue of Community Update, we are honoured to select Oakbank Products Ltd with our Commitment to Excellence Award.
Oakbank Products Ltd is a Scottish-based supplier of premier bottle sealing wax, used to dip prestigious Scottish whisky bottles as well as seals and cartouches. The high-profile range of whisky brands include master single-malt rarities such as: a 50-year-old Glenfiddich, The Macallan in Lalique and The Ardbeg. Although highly regarded as specialists in the drinks industry, the Edinburgh company works in other sectors such as perfumery and artisan food and has its eye on expanding into upcoming gin and rum companies wishing to elevate market sales.
The company has been successfully trading for ten years now and was delighted to be invited to the press release lots showcase for the One of One Auction run by the Worshipful Company of Distillers and the Distillers’ Charity. The prestigious auction was hosted at the iconic Stately Home: Hopetoun House in Queensferry, near Edinburgh, in partnership with Sotheby’s The auction included rare, customised Scotch whiskies from Scotland’s leading distilleries, with £1.8 million donated to The Distillers’ charity’s Youth Action Fund. The General Manager from Oakbank Products: Bill Corbett explains more,
“In the lead up to the event we were asked by the Glenturret distillery to help with their submission (The Glenturret Enduring Spirit), by engraving a stamp and wax dipping their four Lalique decanters. At the event, there were many other whisky lots that had our wax applied including The Last Drop’s distiller’s blended whisky donation. It was wonderful to be part of such a charitable evening and it was an honour to see our stamp and wax dipping in pride of place!”
Oakbank Products is committed to excellence from its hand-crafted premier bottle sealing wax, proudly displayed on many high-end products around the globe as a mark of brand authenticity, to pushing its own sustainability boundaries, as Bill outlines,
“Although we are a small family-run business, we recognise every contribution to sustainability matters, even the smaller gestures. Over the past 18 months we have switched our energy supply away from gas, to a green electricity supply and are proud to be sponsoring a local Bee Keeping Association. We know we can do more and am hoping to support some local conservation projects in the future.
We are also working with our suppliers, and internally, to develop “eco” version of our bottle sealing wax; reducing mineral levels and increasing natural source waxes/rosins. This is an on-going project we hope to offer in 2024.” concluded Bill
