The Sway Allstars: musical icing on the wedding cake

Community Update are proud to reward The Sway Allstars with our Commitment to Excellence Award.

Imagine putting together a dream team of musicians, who have all performed alongside some of the biggest acts in the world from Tom Jones, Amy Winehouse to Years & Years and Sigala and having them perform at your wedding?

Introducing The Sway Allstars: an eclectic band of talented, gold-standard vocalists and musicians who can perform anything from 70s groove to present-day chart toppers. The ensemble play at corporate events, charity awards, private events for royalty and celebrities all the way to birthdays and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs. We caught up with band manager and keyboard player extraordinaire David Brooks to talk about all things wedding-related,

“Over half of our bookings are for weddings and we’ve now performed at over a staggering 500 weddings! We’ve performed all over the world, in Europe, the Middle East and even, Eastern Kazakhstan. The wedding couple can choose from a solo pianist, an acoustic ensemble, a 4-piece DJ-Live act all the way to a 12-piece showband. We offer a unique bespoke service: we can perform with a solo singer or as an ensemble during the wedding ceremony, during the reception and belt some tunes out later on the dancefloor. We cater to the individual couple, helping them meticulously plan their special day with the perfect music choice.”

Attention to detail and versatility is key and The Sway Allstars can play any musical style across all genres. 70s disco has retained its weight in gold and is still the most popular global request, getting younger and older wedding guests up onto the dance floor. Rock anthems are ubiquitous and often lead to a dancefloor stampede towards the end of the night.

The Sway Allstars are inclusive of all religious faiths and lifestyle choices and have perfected a 20-minute Klezmer folk medley for Jewish weddings, parties and birthdays.

We asked David why couples should hire a live band for their wedding,

“The best thing about hiring a live band is having people with years of experience taking charge of your entertainment, getting your guests up on the dancefloor and having a great time, so as a busy bridal couple, you can concentrate on other things. Customers always compliment us afterwards by saying, ‘everybody’s still talking about the band,’ which is the best compliment. If you get the right band, there’s so much less you have to worry about on the night.”
