B & D Murkin is the main UK importer for Le Tonkinois Varnish and the Flexidisc sander. Le Tonkinois Varnish is a natural oil-based yacht varnish, that uses a Chinese formula dating back two or three centuries. Designed to remove brush-marks, bring out the natural beauty of the timber without cracking or flaking off, this permanent varnish is simple to use and only requires an additional coat every few years. Proven as the perfect solution for the amateur user seeking a professional product, Le Tonkinois Varnish comes available in two separate forms.
Le Tonkinois Classic is extremely ecologically friendly including no petroleum solvents and is particularly good for boats and garden furniture. It depicts a natural gloss that can be matted as required and because of its tough, non-porous weatherproof coating it is highly resistant to all the elements including U.V and sea water. Free of harmful and irritating ingredients, it is ideal for all indoor applications, whilst simultaneously outperforming other competitors for all outside purposes too. Le Tonkinois Classic can be applied on top of nearly all existing products except wax, although on bare wood it embellishes all natural features and colour.
Le Tonkinois Marine No1 is further refined to an even higher purity, giving an improved performance over the Classic. Some further advantages include faster drying, penetrates better in wood and is easier to apply, delivers a better U.V protection and is more resistant to abrasion damage, gives a higher gloss, and produces less skinning in the can.
Another notable product is the Flexidisc Sander / Grinder that gives a superb finish on wood, metal, fibreglass, car body fillers and all other hard materials. Its fast rotation speed achieves sensational results in a fraction of the time normally taken by conventional sanders. This versatile tool also sharpens chisels, plane blades, lathe tools, axes and garden tools without the rapid overheating of normal abrasive wheels.
