The Brighton Bed Centre is a multi-award-winning family business offering a superior range of beds and mattresses. Established in 1967, this workshop has grown phenomenally (they now have five conjoined and extended units on Portland Road, and are supplying beds to homes, hotels and Airbnb’s around the globe).
The company recently won two coveted awards: The Best Furnishings Company in the UK and Best Business in Brighton and Hove, both voted for by the public.
We spoke to delighted owner Stuart about this fantastic sleep haven,
“We suggest that all our patrons come to the shop in comfy clothes and try as many beds as they like.
We want you to fall asleep like Goldilocks and have the best night’s sleep imaginable. We’ve sold beds to generations of families, with them returning to buy beds for children and grandchildren, and with the whole cycle repeating.
We have skilled artisans designing and handcrafting beds on site, with meticulous attention to detail, and generally using natural materials. Our whole ethos is that we pass the discount onto the customer, with no middleman, so our customers benefit directly.”
The huge range covers everything from children’s beds to electric adjustable beds, and sofa beds to ottoman storage beds. Sizes range from 2ft6 to a whopping 6ft super-king, and because they are made on site, they can actually craft bespoke sizes, too.
Stuart and his friendly sales team can offer expert advice and guidance on all types of mattresses and help with any health conditions that can benefit from the right support.
All of the mattresses come quality-assured and most are hypoallergenic, antimicrobial, and mite and dust proof, providing the highest standards in hygiene.
Latterly, the bed centre has been stocking vegan mattresses, too, which have proven to be highly popular with customers.

“We receive phone calls from effusive customers, who say they have just had their best night’s sleep ever, on one of our beds. The incredible thing is that they discovered our bed in an Airbnb abroad! We don’t do the hard sell, we are more interested in matching the right bed or mattress to the individual, and ensuring our customers are 100% satisfied with the result. Our reviews speak for themselves, the internet is overflowing with happy customers singing our praises.”
