Stunning Holiday Cottage in the Old Seaside Town of Nairn

Community Update is proud to announce that Inverwick Cottage has been selected as our Cottage of the Year. Nestled in the quaint Victorian resort of Nairn, near Inverness, it is close to the town centre and the prestigious Nairn Golf Club.

The property has been rented out by Sheila for over 25 years, and it boasts four stars on the Scottish Board. It is kept in excellent condition, with full central heating, a private parking area and free Wi-Fi. There are two twin bedrooms with a cot available on request, a spacious sitting/dining room with a sofa bed, and a well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast area. The cottage also welcomes well-behaved dogs and provides a wealth of reading matter for guests to enjoy.

We spoke to Sheila about what makes Inverwick Cottage so special, “The cottage has its own private patio with garden furniture, which somehow stays warmer than other outside areas, so it is the perfect place to sit and enjoy the countryside and see some rare red squirrels. We also offer visitors our home grown fruit from our large garden, which they are invited to spend time in.

Customers love the cottage and the area, and we get so many repeat bookings with some people coming twice a year. There are a lot of people who come to visit family and need somewhere close by to stay, and the only time we lose regular customers is when they’ve decided to buy their own property in the area because they love it so much.”

Indeed, Nairn is described as having its own microclimate, remaining much drier and sunnier than the rest of Scotland. It is well known for its low rainfall and long hours of sunshine, meaning winter visitors are often pleasantly surprised. There is plenty to see in the town, with spectacular archaeological remains including ruined abbeys, cathedrals and castles. The sea also boasts dolphins and rich seabird life, perfect for the nature enthusiast.

With a prime location next to Nairn’s famous sandy beaches, Inverwick Cottage truly is a gem of the Scottish Highlands. Two minutes away from the beach, visitors can walk down the drive from the property, across the lawn and arrive at the coast, where there is a superb walk along the promenade to the harbour.
