The Duke’s Folly: Historic, Modern and Cosy Hotel

Community Update is proud to present Duke’s Folly Hotel with our Commitment to Excellence Award, for their fantastic hospitality and customer service. We chatted to Leslie, who told us, “We are ecstatic to receive this award, and very grateful. Thank you.”

The Duke’s Folly is self-described as Southport’s best kept secret, and it is easy to see why. Rich in local history, the hotel pays homage to Southport’s forward thinking founder, William Sutton, also known as The Old Duke. Close to the site of the Old Duke’s original hotel, The Duke’s Folly has records dating back to 1861 and is perhaps the most prevalent memorial to Southport’s founder.

Conveniently located with transport links to Manchester, Liverpool and Preston, the hotel offers affordable and high quality food and accommodation, and is a popular destination for a whole host of customers. As well as being the perfect location for golf trips and business conferences, The Duke’s Folly is also ideal for family holidays, weddings and funerals. Offering free breakfast, free Wi-Fi, parking and printing for all guests, each customer can be sure that they will be well looked after.

The hotel also provides catering for a huge range of events and functions, including personal events such as birthdays, weddings and christenings. They also host business functions, with their Southport Theatre and Convention Centre being one of the best convention centres in the Northwest. For smaller gatherings there is a meeting room, The Old Malt, which is equipped with internet and Wi-Fi facilities. On top of this, The Duke’s Folly offers free room hire for any customer who orders their customisable buffet, which has light nibbles such as chicken strips and sausage rolls, as well as main meals including chicken curry and roasted gammon.

The fantastic food on offer doesn’t stop there. In their restaurant they have introduced Friday Steak Nights, where customers can enjoy two steaks and a bottle of wine for only £25, as well as their Sunday Roasts and exquisite Afternoon Teas. All of this can also be enjoyed in their Dining Conservatory, and they offer a furnished sun terrace for the warmer summer months.
