In this issue of Community Update, we are pleased to recognise Ripon Races with a Commitment to Excellence Award.
Ripon Races combines more than 300 years of racing heritage with a welcoming race-day experience in the heart of North Yorkshire. Set just outside the historic cathedral city of Ripon, the racecourse is surrounded by rolling countryside and beautifully maintained floral grounds, creating a relaxed atmosphere that makes every fixture feel like a true Yorkshire day out.
The venue attracts a broad audience, from loyal local racegoers and dedicated racing enthusiasts to families and tourists exploring the region. Visitors can enjoy everything from picnics in the Course or Paddock Enclosure to premium hospitality experiences featuring private boxes, fine dining, and panoramic views of the track. Throughout the season, themed race days, family entertainment and live music after racing add to the vibrant atmosphere.
Ripon Races also plays an important role within the local community, supporting regional businesses, creating employment opportunities, and bringing visitors into North Yorkshire. Whether attending for the sport, the social occasion, or the scenery, Ripon Racecourse offers an experience that blends tradition, hospitality, and countryside charm.
This Summer, Ripon Races features two exciting Family Days for all ages. On 3rd August, Scoops and Saddles Family Fun Day host the inaugural North Yorkshire Ice Cream Championships, celebrating the region’s best ice cream makers. Then on 31st August, Curtains Up at the Races brings family entertainment with the annual Panto Horse Race and the brand-new Onesie Derby.

Also, those new to racing say they find this a low-pressure environment where they have space to find out how racing works and to enjoy the experience.
Being recognised for a Commitment to Excellence Award is a huge honour. It reflects the hard work that goes on behind the scenes—from maintaining the course to delivering a great customer experience on race days.
It means a lot not just to the team, but to everyone involved with the racecourse, and it reinforces the goal of continually improving and offering visitors something special every time they come.”
